XD July 4th concert was amazing. The only complaint would be to some of the audience members: seriously do not take your kids with you if they're under 13-14. Granted, taking them to Atlantic City is a little skeevy in the first place... My seats were pretty amazing, 6 rows up from the floor, but not too many in my section was a fan of dancing apparently (but everyone on the floor and near the front was). I kinda looked odd dancing by myself, lol. These aren't my pictures and there were glittering lights everywhere, btw (don't curse me out on bad quality).

First up was the enigmatic, floor-writhing glam-rock band, Semi-Precious Weapons.

Ummm... yeah. I don't think many people were feeling them, and I was also surrounded by people around their forties, asking me if the lead vocalist was a boy or a girl. He is a boy, people.

I don't hate rock at all. I don't hate glam rock either. However, through their music is basically the same curses and eyeliners and guitar squealing that I've heard before in other glam rock bands. But hey, he is fucking gorgeous.

Then, there was Lady Gaga. These fans are adorably insane. :D

She's fabulous, whacky, sexy, totally eccentric, yet extremely grateful. To experience her concert was pretty amazing. I love the theatrics, but I loved the music so much more. She played songs off of The Fame and The Fame Monster, with dance tracks like "Dance in the Dark" and "Monster," and ballads like "Speechless" and a concert bonus, "You and I."

Her costumes are pretty standard...for Lady Gaga. They were odd, yet fashionable. My favorite would be the lighted up white dress that sparkled so much that my camera phone complained.

There were some surprises in the song choice. Notably, "You and I" was a new song that she performed only once before. Other surprises for me (since I didn't read fan reports of the other locations) were "Vanity" which is a song she wrote 4 years ago and non-singles off of The Fame: "Money Honey" and "Boys Boys Boys."

I didn't think that I was a huge fan until I realized that I sang along to all the songs.

Most of us stood; most of us sang along; most of us danced; some some of us sat and listened; some of us moshed; some of us were drunk; some of us made out. As she mentioned, we should be free. The weather was hot, the city <s>was</s> is smelly, and the streets were littered with dead rats and trash. My description makes it seem horrible but it wasn't so bad. It was the freedom of being able to roam alone and peek at people, so vibrant and different, out of the corners of my eyes that made all the difference and calmed my nerves.

Plus the post office was really empty for once and there was no line.

*Insert funky cuss here*

So it's the summer. There really are so many things that can cause people pain and play up politics at the same time. Honestly, it feels like people take advantage of times like these to "promise" things that even they know are stupid/impossible and to change the rules of something totally irrelevant.

As a student who commutes to NYC, there are times that I feel that the security system fails, but I also think there are many natural weather elements that come into play. That is metaphorically speaking. I mean that we can't look towards politics to save all our personal problems, but with immigration and abortion and gay marriage, how does limiting those things affect the general public? There are people who are not immigrants, not girls and not gay. Why do those people want to "fix" these things when it is generally none of their business? I'm not saying it is not important, but it doesn't have to be dealt with now. Rather I would be more satisfied leaving those things aside until the economic situation is more stable. With President Obama as president, it's easy for some kids (including non-working college students) to forget that we have a national debt that is continuing to rise. Will I have to start thinking that I will have to fill up those zeros on the national debt instead of filling up my stomach soon?

Lol, the sad thing is that I can totally just juxtapose my rant with an experience today. It's Mother's Day, a day important to me where I show my mom appreciation by letting her rest and not letting her do any heavy chores. My two brothers and my sister-in-law lives with us. My brother and his wife did not plan anything and instead spent the day with their friends. It is totally disrespectful because it's a day that they have no work and why wouldn't they just hang out on another day. To add salt to injury, my dad is not here, and hasn't called anyone since he went on vacation. I know everyone in my family is appreciative to my mother (we make her pay for our tuition, bills, food, debt, even though we are all grown up; my brother is close to 30), but we can't even give up one day of the year to make her feel special. I did everything alone even though I am unemployed; am i wasting my money on something impractical?

My name is Jess

I haven't updated in a while. Macys is awesome! :) I WAS SO HAPPY THIS WEEKEND!!! My cousin helped me pick out dresses for prom and my brother's wedding and I ended up buying 4 dresses for $200. The only bad thing is that most of the dresses I got were ones that I could only were once or twice at a special occasion... Anyways, I got it with my Macy's giftcards so it makes it better. The movie is based off a true account also entitled "Awakenings." It is about a doctor who uses a new drug on his immobile patients so they can "awaken." All the patients have been asleep for 20-30 years where they were in a catatonic state. They would not move or talk. However, Dr. Sayer (Robin Williams) gets help from the nurses to perform some research on the patients to try to get them to move. There is a scene in the movie where he places all the patients facing each other and gets them to play catch and another where a woman starts to eat when listening to a certain type of music.

Leonard (Robert de Niro), a patient who has been immobile since he was a boy, wakes up with the experimental drug treatment. He and Dr. Sayer form an amazing kind of friendship. It crosses the boundary of assumption that patients should be treated like "statue" and "furniture" just because they hadn't moved in many years. There should be a huge applause for both of these actors. Because of them, I was crying the whole last half of the movie. The most powerful scene is that climax where Leonard discovers that even though he's been given the gift of life again, he will not ever be treated like every other human being.

Lol, afterwards, I wiki'd Encephalitis and tried to look for any remaining patients. I TOTALLY WANT TO READ THE BOOK.

Vista Word Recognition Fun AKA Do you know what song this is?

Gotta change my answering machine now that I’m alone kiss and that the right now it says that fleeing a can come to the phone and then Nolen makes no sense ‘cause you walked out the jeweler seek only way I heal voice anymore eight to take you a is it’s been months and for some reason I just can’t get over us and I’m Siobhan good then this yeah in the office and there are no mall walking around my head down yet on sold a ba in blue coli in only animal and Gonzalez sank killed love songs so low tide of ta’s Celadon won’t lose seen EU was so he and sellouts all a saint bill of most loans so was said and sloat so wide pants and also ado get a fix that Cal and then I had this module at 15 because Singh says no mall year there’s no mallet of those surveyed on solos that up with my thoughts and if you and him and then we and now every song reminds me of like you see the that’s only as an unsolicited gumbo songs sold side of T is so all done with lee a sheen you would say only a séance always say carol love songs souls sense lol but no soot on solace eight guild lol Sloan so sad and slow so why can I tune of some needy you need be a loan the mio don’t see the new bid of Sloan you’ll make me think about his small or having months is dead amending the old sending a plume and the Islam so as saying the most loans while a can exit off the 80 year the piece suit he said Unsoeld fake the more phone through Sony and slow for.

THE VMAS

I'm going to be extremely biased. I HATE DISNEY. Don't expect me to write anything about those teeny boppers that seem to possess young 'un's souls. I'm writing as I'm watching so I'm going to keep the enthusiasm to myself. :)

The show started out with Britney! who looked so much better than last year! We don't see the roots anymore :). Rihanna bursts out with an array of freaky dancers, herself wearing a towering dress. She sang "Disturbia" and proceeded to strip into a skimpy outfit and had a small segue to a White Stripes. I do not condone anyone to follow her mullet trend though.

Russell Brand is so true. No one knows him but he is a hilarious UK comedian. Do I agree with him? Maybe, politics are interesting. Though I can't vote quite yet. For me, Britney's win was a pleasant surprise (I thought Katy Perry for sure) because she needs a come back! She needed it. Chris Brown was no surprise because he's such an influence in the youth of America. "Wonderwall" playing in the background.

There was Katy Perry performing "Like a Virgin." Her singing is fine but her performance needs work. I don't want to watch her when she's singing.

Then Michael Phelps helped out, introducing Leona Lewis (one of my favorites) and Lil Wayne (losing his pants) and T-Pain (decked out in a magician suit).

Lindsey Lohan's still alive?! Ciara?! FANNYPAK (LOVE YOU GUYS <3) Dance video? I love Ne-Yo more as a singer, haha. Pussycat Dolls <3 cause I want to work at a strip club too "When I Grow Up."

...no offense, Twilight has even more insane fans. I'd rather not get involved with them either.

Lol, P. Diddy is working Danity Kane even behind the scenes on the VMAs but it's probably just for the laughs.

Paramore was interesting. The vocalist changed her hair again. The outfit does not really work for me... or maybe it's the hair. Her pants match the guitar and bass, XD. Wow, I must be stupid, I didn't even notice the change of set at all. I mean, it did change, right?

Slash and Shia LeBeouf (he's not in jail) with the rock video nominees, very plain. The rock category is pretty competitive but I'm thinking LP. Linkin Park wins! They are like an institution for MTV for years. These guys are pretty amazing, even on the world scene.

Pink was one of my favorites when I was growing up and she still sounds unique and looks amazing. Her dress was very cool, if not on the verge of a costume. I think the amazing thing is that she sounds like she's not fazed by anything and her biker outfit was barely there but still better than Britney's from a few years ago. There were fire hazards and I swear she unbottoned her top even more. I just realized those people dancing on the window sills were supposed to be there.

I LOVE THE TING TINGS. <3<3<3

Haha, I really did not know that Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz were married but Ashlee was extremely pretty with her long red hair and her baby bump.

Though I did not like the slant towards Sarah Palin cause teenage pregnancy isn't a reason to point someone out. As a mother, she works hard. Mothers.

Slipknot presenting Hip-Hop video. Hah. I was not surprised with Lil Wayne winning. I wasn't really paying attention to the other nominations.

Jordin Sparks is curvy and talented, I loved her style. T.I. was an interesting performer because I haven't heard of him for a while. (I don't listen to music that often) The performance was cool with the female prop and the stage.

GODDAMNIT. I wished I never had to hear this song ever again, even if Rihanna's questionable hair choices was singing it. (Ma-ia-hii Ma-ia-huu Ma-ia-hoo Ma-ia-haha). But the song eventually got better, sort of. :(

The intermission songs were interesting. I figured that many of the people watching the VMAs were really young and wouldn't appreciate some of the older songs that they played.

DUDEEEE, what is with the Disney influx? Hahaha, I actually love Christina Aguilera, so Disney is a pretty subjective topic for me. Her appearance looks a lot younger with the long hair but I love how she reinvented "Genie in a Bottle." She's an example of a great performer. What's with the cape though?

...Tokio Hotel is so... normal. Why did people vote for them? It's like another world. They don't sound interesting at all, so how did they win fan favorite???

My brother switched the channel on Paris Hilton, that's how much he hates her. She has a hellalot of extensions. Britney wins again for Best Pop Video. I was vying for Danity Kane but it's understandable, Britney is too much of a publicized figure.

Locksley, good job on the political parodies!

Geez, they even have Nickelodeon stars!? Kid Rock?! Purely a coincidence but my head hurts now... "Sweet Home Alabama" sounded odd, sorry.

And Britney wins all 3 of her nominations... (dunno, maybe they thought it will be a while until she comes back again.)

And Kanye performs *fabulous as usual*.

Trump Taj Mahal Suite

This is kind of an old event but it happened a few weeks ago when my family and my brother's girlfriend and my other brother's friends went to Atlantic City (AC). For those of you not in the know, it is a mini-Las Vegas in New Jersey. My family is just a huge pack of gamblers ;).

So, the suite hotel room was at Trump Taj Mahal. And I was stuck inside because I'm underage, so I wrote a list of complaints about the room. (I also wrote a little bit about the restaurants and the broadwalk.)

THE ROOM

Overall, the room was fucking dirty. I mean, we waited about 2 hours for them to fix it up and it still sucked. All the couches and cushions were unclean or dusty because my whole family felt uncomfortable. My mother even broke out into rashes after hugging a dirty pillow.

The pull-out couch-bed was even weirder. You pull it out and there were no sheets, no blankets, no pillows. I thought it was just a misunderstanding, that they put them in a drawer or in the closet but there were absolutely none. In the end, I was lucky enough to catch the cleaning lady for some sheets.

There were also some things that were just odd about the room, there was a concaved wall on the side of the bed and it had a small mattress-cushion lifted about 4 ft from the ground and about half the size of a twin bed. There was no snack bar, though it seemed that there was a bar style kitchen (without any gas work). The tv was also weird. There were 2 NBC channels and only one of them was clear. The NBC situated for Atlantic City was extremely boring, like the news were sucking the life out of them. (Lol, this was back when the Olympics were still on, so I was like 2AM for a basketball game? "Fuck dat, I'm sleeping.")

The bathroom was the most awkward experience of all. First of all, when you're on the toilet, you're facing the door. But on the door, is a mirror... YOU CAN SEE YOURSELF USING THE TOILET!!!! Then, bath time. There was no laundry bag? Do they expect you carry your own bag for dirty underwear? Geez... The worst part was the bathtub drain. I love taking baths at hotels, it's a fetish, lol. However, the drain was broken and hard to close. On the plug it said push, on the other side of the plug was a screw, it did not stop the water from draining at all.

THE FOOD

Our family is the typical Chinese parents, Americanized kids type of family so we go eat Chinese food everywhere we go even though it sucks. DYNASTY. Oh my. *Shaking head* Safely said, it sucked. It was an American style Chinese restaurant and none of the food tasted right, not even the soup. Believe me, I've been to enough Chinese restaurants to know that that food was bad. Cheaper food in Flushing, Queens tastes better. Though my dad gave the restaurant a 60 dollar tip, dumbass.

The Rim is a noodle bar that serves Chinese lunches. It is good. It's the type of food that you would expect from any normal Chinese restaurant. I must admit, the Korean BBQ pork is amazing.

Plate is a modern, contemporary American diner. The food is oily. That's my only comment.

BROADWALK

The beach is dirty, as all beaches. There are a lot of stray cats :(. And homeless people. And cats. And homeless people. And dead cats. And parts of homeless people.

The whole broadwalk is overpriced. The soft vanilla ice cream cone = 3-4 dollars. The sausage hot dog = 4-5 dollars. The games were bad too. Any of the good prizes (Stewie, Bryan Griffin) took a lot of money to even try to get them. It would be cheaper to just buy them. The rides are pathetic except for one thrill ride that is a contraption on a bungee and it goes extremely high and bounces quite a lot.

~*~*~

That's my review for this hotel. All quantity but not as much on quality.

Song of Solomon

For school, I had to read Song of Solomon. I would say it's the best book I've ever had to read in school. Though my classmates might not agree with me, Toni Morrison has this way with words. I had to read it completely today, but I wouldn't mind reading it again slowly. I was seriously in tears by the end. I'm not one for deaths but the book puts a unique look of living your own life and saving your apologies.

I'm the type to fall over for every kind of chick flick there is, but this was completely new. It was all about older black men and women from an older time. Religion doesn't play a factor in my life whatsoever, but the research of the names added to allusions that were nicely set. Even the setting with Not Doctor's Street, it showed how much people had respected a black doctor.

Frankly, I thought it was inspiring. Especially in today's society where everything is dripping with materialism and sarcasm, each character had an honest perspective whether or not they were liars. In the area I live in is somewhat of a reflection of Part 1 of Song of Solomon. People automatically think that a suburb is a bubble but the only thing holding themselves back from breaking stereotypes are themselves. It doesn't matter how old you are, if you don't have dreams you'll always be stuck in the suburbs.

I also feel sympathy yet pride in the women. At this time and place, no one can say that women have no rights. To quote Eleanor Roosevelt, "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent." I feel it. Every time that I cry without any provocation, I've felt that I couldn't be any better; that I could not find the words to argue my case. After reading this book, I still feel that it's either me or him that has to live for the sake of living, but we might as well go our separate in peace.

DOGGIE

sleepy dog =.=

Does anyone know what kind of dog this is? Mimi's so cute but naughty, very, very naughty. I'm looking after her for my brother's girlfriend. I don't know what I will do when they take her back...

It was kind of random, but while I was walking her today, some psychotic little girl on her bike was stalking us. "Puppy, puppy~," I heard, but as I turned back, veered off to the side, and repeat... gah, neighbors....

BSB

AUGUST 14, 2008
THURSDAY
was probably one of the funnest nights of my life.

At Mohegan Sun (which is a shitty place for anyone under 21), many teenage girls crowded to what would become a concert of huge amusement. From one fan who witnessed this concert, "Geez, they should have got rid of Kevin a long time ago; they sound great." And at the concert, there were so many flash cameras and phones going... it was cool.

Opening was the not-so-great GIRLICIOUS, though there was a lot of energy by "Like Me" and the sassy girls asking the crowd to give it up for the boys, er... hm... men!

After a 20 min intermission, the guys came out, all four of them, scantily-clad in boxing outfits. I don't care what people say, these men in their mid-30s or late 20s are still piping hot. This is evident from the $10 poster my cousin bought from the concert.
=D

=D
Starting out was "Larger than Life" which partially segued into "Stronger" (original rap by Kanye West). I loved the fact that they sang many of their older songs, "Everyone," "All I Have to Give," "I Want it that Way," "Backstreet's Back," "The Call," "Show me the Meaning of Being Lonely," and others.

They also sang "Inconsolable" and "Incomplete." There were newer, great songs but on a deeper inspection, do these guys have much hope for the future...?
Brian sure does. The boys all hit with their own solos but Brian was definitely enjoyable with his sincerity and his cute humor.

=(

Honestly... my mom was right, it was so fucking loud that it wasn't too enjoyable but the seats and bleachers were literally moving from all the excitement. From the 9 year olds girls screaming behind us, the nonchalant punks with glowsticks who slowly started feeling the music, the drunk 40 year old women listing off the proof of their fanaticism, the older Indian man standing and blocking my mom's view, the lone Asian guy standing with arms crossed, and the gay man taking off his shirt and grinding on his neighbor, it was apparant that the Backstreet boys has never lost their charm. The time they shine and where they are in their prime is on the stage. *heart*

But the best part was my ticket was free free free!!! All paid from my dad the gambling mongol... A regular pass is around 54 bucks, but there are coupons for a 15 dollar discount and/or a buy 1 get one free on weekdays. I would suggest getting a flashpass cause otherwise, you'll spend money and time to go on only 3 rides... though I like being cheap so I never do. XD

Always expect long lines even at the bathrooms and such so bring a drink when you're waiting on line. And bags, it might be better just not to bring them, you'll have to go through security and buy lockers constantly. Parking is also... a bitch.

This is a picture from my phone =3! We were waiting on the Superman ride. It said the wait was about an hour and a half but it was more like two hours cause they kept doing blank tests on the second cart. Overall, the ride was worth the wait, being my first time on it (though I would not consider waiting for it again). It was not very fast but the position of being attached from your back and your stomach facing the ground with interesting turns and stuff made the ride enjoyable. (even for a girl who has motion sickness and a fear of heights!) My hair was in my face in the pic. =P

Though I did not go on it this time, El Toro is one of my favorite roller coasters because it's fast and crickety. I love that momentum of slowly going up and just going everywhere at a high pace. When I went on it last year, we were there in the morning and there was no line and we went on again with a 30 minute wait. It's definitely worth the wait.

I went on the Great American Scream Machine both last year and this year and the wait is always pretty quick considering they have three carts: blue, white, and red. Last year, I didn't like it so much, but this year, the random guy sitting in the cart with us was hilarious. He was asking everyone if they were "screamers," and proceeded to scream and say stuff like, "Oh yea, MAKE ME SCREAM; this is the scream machine", "Holy shit!", "I'm gonna piss in my pants", and "Y'all need to go take a piss after this ride." I was laughing so hard. The ride, overall, is pretty good, it's not fast but it can hurt considering your ears are banging into the protective seat.

I would not recommend the new Dark Night Coaster. It was 2 hours for a video as a prologue to the ride and a ride that was like a kids' coaster inside a dark room. It was horrible because it wasn't fast and it didn't have a lot of drops and highs, just a lot of turns. Honestly, the video was more exciting the the ride. There was a wait before getting the ticket, a wait to get inside the building, and a wait inside the building to get onto the ride. Though, waiting inside was ok because they have a screen watching you and putting a joker mask on your face. Though it was only built recently, replacing Chiller: Batman and Robin, I can't recommend this ride at all.

However, Batman the ride was amazing. It was extremely fast and your legs just dangle in the air. Even though the wait said 60 min, it only took us 20 min. It was worth the time and effort because fast rides=love.

Next time, I'm determined to go on Kingda Ka.... It's a slow wait and it was broken this time, but I'm sure that I'll be able to go on it eventually. REMEMBER: If you're in a group, never offer someone to cut the line because people cut the line, then invite their friends to cut the line and it just makes the wait longer. And people always want to cut you even if it's obvious you're just taking off your shoes or putting your bag away (some rides offer cubbies to put away your bag, most don't). And apparently, you can bribe the ticketers to let you go through the flashpass line... kind of annoying but how much do these ticketers actually make at this park? I wonder.

I can't say I recommend these for people who don't like roller coasters but I pretty much only like riding on roller coasters. There are also concession stands, kiosks and such. There is a real dog tag stand outside of the American Army Experience (which is a virtual representation that my gaming brother said wasn't too amazing but all right).

Small rides are typical. Teacups are overrated, but going on the merry-go-round and riding a cock with a friend is always fun. =] Whatever you think, ferris wheels suck. I hate them!!! I can stand rollercoasters fine but I felt like fainting on the ferris wheel. I got henna last time. Henna tattoos are these organic substances that are put on the skin and soaked in until they crack which usually takes 5-10 min and they last 2-4 weeks. Apparently black hennas have added chemicals that can harm you so be careful where you get it. My cousin got a cute henna but she got tired of waiting and scraped it off so it's pretty light. As cheaper alternatives, I suggest Forever 21 and Old Navy. These stores are everywhere and even have online stores, so if you have never heard of them before check them out know. Forever 21 is my personal favorite. ;)

In conclusion, if you like to splurge on a casual-but-not-really look that suits 18-30 year olds very well, then Anthropologie is the place for you. Its online store ships to many places beyond the state, so check it out =D.
